Keep our schools open

In winter as in summer, purifying the air in enclosed spaces would slow the circulation of the coronavirus, in addition to barrier actions.

It's also our duty to protect the health of the youngest

Like several Landers in Germany, who have already adopted the installation of air purifiers in schools and other public buildings since the summer of 2020, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Laurent Wauquiez praises the merits of these air purifiers, and considers to intensify the deployment of these devices, equipping all establishments that desire so. Air purifiers can also be a hope for restaurants, theaters.

« This  is an important step that we are taking: I will officially enter the Minister of National Education by asking him for a campaign to deploy these devices. Now we have to move, we have a new weapon to fight against Covid-19”

Laurent Wauquiez, President of d’Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region

« Impressive and concluding  » results.

According to the figures, air purifiers with HEPA filters are 99{01e3c5e93231d16e008ef94f2b1d6fd0127ff363a7cc717001d1444d838f865e} effective in filtering aerosols. Moreover, once the virus is trapped inside, it dies after 48 hours.

How was this study carried out?

This study was commissioned by the Region during the end of year. It was carried out similarly to the study commissioned by ATA Medical for the evaluation of Room Dopair® and Dopair® air purifiers:

«We nebulize the virus produced beforehand, and we generate a contaminated and quantified atmosphere of the virus. Then the device to be evaluated is installed and starts processing a number of air changes. Then we harvest the residual infectious viruses and we quantify them by viral titration. This is how we are able to assess the performance of the device ».

detailed Manuel Rosa Calatrava, research director at INSERM and co-director of the Virpat laboratory within the national infectious disease research center, concerning the study carried out for the region, in the journal Lyon Mag.

What are the results of the Virnext study on ATA Medical air purifiers?

ATA Medical has ATA Medical has commissioned the independent Virnext to set up an experimental procedure for evaluating the effectiveness of the Room Dopair®, Dopair® filtration system in the decontamination of a confined space contaminated by viruses of the same category. of coronaviridae.

VirNext is is a technological research platform, a spin-off from Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, created within the VirPath laboratory to promote industrial partnerships and strengthen translational research.

The test was carried out with 2 categories of viruses:

  • With lipidic membrane, the category of coronaviridae
  • Non-enveloped, like adenovirus.

Research platform VirNext

« “The system was tested in a 2.5m3 confined space where airborne viruses had spread. The results obtained in 5 minutes were more than 99.9929{01e3c5e93231d16e008ef94f2b1d6fd0127ff363a7cc717001d1444d838f865e} and 99.905{01e3c5e93231d16e008ef94f2b1d6fd0127ff363a7cc717001d1444d838f865e} efficient for categories of viruses with lipid membranes such as coronaviridae, and without membranes, such as adenovirus type 5, respectively ”».
